Instagram Introduces Fully-Fledged Web Profiles For All Users
Want more Instagram on the Web? After the recent launch of the Web viewer, Instagram is now rolling out new Web profiles, with all the features you’ve come to know from your regular mobile profile. These Web profiles include a Timeline-like set of featured photos on top, along with every photo you’ve uploaded to Instagram below. When viewing a Web profile, you can easily like and comment on photos, and also follow other users directly from the Web.
Instagram on the Web is highly popular, and with the absence of an official solution, alternatives have been springing up all over the place. While the new Web profiles are still limited – no search, no news feed and no uploading options – it’s still an easy way to share your Instagram presence with others. You can also edit your profile information from the new Web profile, which might be easier than doing so on mobile.
So how do you access your new Web profile? Point your browser to instagram.com/[username]. You can do the same for any Instagram username, even if you don’t have an Instagram account. If you can’t see your profile yet, don’t worry. Web profiles are still rolling out, and everyone should have one by the end of the week.
If you’re wondering who can see your photos on your Web profile, that depends on your own settings. Public photos are visible to anyone who stumbles upon your profile page, Instagram user or not. While there’s no link to your profile page anywhere unless you share it yourself, it’s still something to keep in mind. If your photos are set to private, only logged-on Instagram users of your choice will be able to view your photos.
What do you think of the new Web profiles?
